我知我知~~ 因為美國佬鍾意乜都自己砌，但佢地又唔識扎鐵，所以起木屋囉
我估同成本有關，因為地價低，所以d屋向橫發展，只有1至2層。
我認為係佢地預左會比龍卷風吹散，所以用木起屋，一嚟快d起好，二嚟平過用磚頭！用磚頭起屋唔代表唔會吹散，仲有散起上嚟會壓死人tim。

Jay: their didn’t pursue level 3 — concrete house! Look like they didn’t learn from their own fables!
Perhaps it is related to insurance policies and cost of building concrete houses that links to Johnny and T Freak’s opinions.
Cost of building… steel labour should be super expensive in US… maybe wood house are faster to build. ? If yes then it makes a lot of sense to rebuild new wood houses.
And perhaps insurance company don’t pay enough to rebuild brick / concrete houses./.. Maybe there are policy restrictions that prevents them from building concrete houses..
why not? if everyone’s house survive from cyclones , insurance companies have no way to increase premium. and people may even NOT buy insurance for their houses – this reduces insurer’s revenue!
What is the truth? We might have a modest approximation now

用蠓殼起屋, 純綷係搞搞新意思, 以及廢物利用.
Reasons for using oyster shells as exterior wall cover:

(2) agree with 小西, re-use of resources, if some fell out, go buy oysters and steam it for dinner, the next morning, replace the missing shell outside and you’ll have a beautiful home

根據當地居民以及網上有限既資訊顯示：
1) 蠔穀屋乃廣東特色，可追塑至宋代。為甚麼為廣東獨有？因為五邑一帶盛產以前是海邊，地下蠔殼極多，前人於是就地取材，以此建屋。
2) 後來，在五邑、沙井等地，蠔穀屋變成窮等人家的住所 —即是說因為無錢，所以才用蠔殼和泥灰做牆，有錢則買磚頭做牆。
3) 在其他地方(如碧江鎮)，蠔穀牆被視作身份象徵!???! (物離鄉貴？)

其實睇真的, 佢地係用蠔穀的內則, 而不是用外則, 內則有銀色物質, 會反光, 所以是用來散熱的.
我猜是便宜且就地取材的緣故。美國很多房子都是木造的。還有一種房子不知你見過沒有，就是人家已建好的trailer屋，一個長盒，你買的話，成個拉走，然後在四邊固定，那就是一間屋了。
